BARNABAS COMMUNITY PROJECTS
food bank PLUS combines Shrewsbury Food Bank, Barnabas Money Advice and 360 Platform for Life in one service that goes beyond just meeting the basic need to eat but offers help and encouragement to people as they take steps forward into a more positive future.
The job centre sent me at first. I did the 360 Journey to Work Life Skills course and came for a while to the breakfast drop in. It was very helpful. When I first got here I had no confidence at all because I had been out of work for a while but now I am volunteering for Shrewsbury Food Bank and two other places as well. I'm finding this is helpful in getting out of the house and meeting people. Other people have noticed I'm a lot more confident now. If someone was thinking of coming I would tell them to come, it's very good.
- KEITH, CLIENT & VOLUNTEER
I heard there was a food bank in Shrewsbury through the local paper and as I'm retired and have got time on my hands I thought I'd like to help.
I'm working with some very nice people and it's a good atmosphere and I hope it is doing some benefit to my community.
Although I'm doing it because I want to help other people I feel like I get a lot out of it myself. It works both ways.
- IAN, FOOD BANK VOLUNTEER
I first encountered 360 whilst at the food bank. I happened to mention to someone I needed to do a CV and was introduced to Karen, who invited me along. I found the whole experience enjoyable and interesting, and saw at first hand the people on the course with me gain confidence as the weeks progressed. To top it off I now have an outstanding CV. I recommend it to anyone from any walk of life who is seeking employment.

Large food parcel
This is an example of what we would include in an emergency food parcel for 3+ people for a week. We are always very grateful for donations of money or food to make it possible for us to help people who are in crisis. For a current list of the items we are most in need of please see the Food Bank page.
